THE DRAMA STUDIO ~Presents The Romantic Comedy~ BAREFOOT IN THE PARK By Neil Simon Directed by Debra Rice Endris Cast of Characters: Corie: Laura Krauser Paul: Jason Effinger Ethel: Janet Essenpreis Victor: Gary Tipton Telephone Man: Adam Christian Delivery Person: Grace Robertson November 12, 13 @ 7:30pm November 14 @ 2:00pm
THE STORY: Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find – too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job. After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco, where everything that can go wrong does. Paul just doesn’t understand Corie, as she sees it. He’s too staid, too boring, and she just wants him to be a little more spontaneous. Running “barefoot in the park” would be a start…
Meet The Cast of Barefoot In The Park:
Adam Christian is more than excited to be a part of this fantastic show, with its fantastic cast. He is happy to return, after previously being a part of Drama Studios production of Our Town. Outside of loving the theatre, Adam is a hairstylist. Thanks to my family (including my chosen family) and my Jason.
Jason Effinger is so happy to return to his home, the Drama Studio stage, for another wonderful production. Favorite past roles include Emmett in Legally Blonde: The Musical, Galahad in Spamalot, and George Gibbs in Our Town. Jason would like to thank all of his family, blood and found, for their continuous support and love. Now sit back, pop a knichi, and enjoy the show!
Janet Essenpreis is happy to make her first appearance at the drama studio stage. You may have seen her as a FOOTNOTE at Derby Dinner Playhouse where she also performed in well over 100 productions over 28 years. Favorite roles include: Maria in The Sound of Music, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Suzy Hendrix in Wait Until Dark, Annelle in Steel Magnolias and Sheree in The Dixie Swim Club. In her spare time Janet makes and sells Pottery and loves to garden. She also sings with the Ladies for Liberty. She is grateful to play Ethel in this classic play, one she has longed to do and never had the chance before…thanks to Debbie!
Laura Krauser (she/her) is incredibly grateful to be welcomed back to the Drama Studio after ten years wandering the world off-stage. She last appeared in Presentation Academy’s Cats as Grizabella back in November 2011! Favorite roles include the Tinman in the Wizard of Oz, Maria Rainier in the Sound of Music, Rose Mundy in Dancing at Lughnasa, and, of course, the ensemble of Godspell on this very stage. Laura loves spending time outside- be it in the mountains on a backpacking trip or drinking a beer on a patio with family or friends on a crisp fall day. She is fueled by her sweetie Will B.’s delicious vegetarian shepherd’s pie. And she dedicates this performance with love to the Endris family and Grace Robertson- to Dan, who may never know the depths of his positive influence, and to Debbie, Jaelyn, Chelsea, and Grace who make the world a better place.
Grace Robertson is thrilled for The Drama Studio's return to the stage. She has been heavily involved with the company for over ten years, in roles both on and off stage. Some of her favorite shows onstage with The Drama Studio include Godspell, Legally Blonde, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), and Spamalot, and her plays Attic Aesop and The Snow Queen were produced in past seasons. She is currently serving her third season as Assistant Director of The Drama Studio.
